I want to explore 3 thoughts with you now. The first is one I’ve just mentioned. Life looks VERY different right now. There’s no arguing it! As human beings we like to have a level of certainty in our lives… its why we make plans, strive for a stable job and want to own a house. It gives us certainty of what’s coming up, a guarantee of income and a roof above our heads. Without that security we start to ask ourselves 101 questions starting with “what if … ?!” . Adrenaline kicks in. Worry. Panic. The one question I want to ask you is; Can you control the change?
The silly bugger know as LIFE has just turned your map upside down, and I bet you’re trying to follow the same directions. But surprise surprise… it’s not working! My second thought is this; You need to change your directions. Now you’ve got to work from home? You’re struggling to get shit done? You need to make a part of your living space, workspace. Don’t eat there. Don’t piss there. Don’t relax there. Carve a metre square and tell your brain it’s a workspace… trust me you need that separation mentally. This ties nicely into my final thought… Adapt as If your life depends on it. If you dwell in this space of worry and fear of change it’ll consume you. It’s normal and okay to feel those things (check out my article on Emotions Galore for more on this) every now and again but we can’t stay there. How do we do it? Adapt. Try something new.
